Today my step-daughter Debbie asked me if I could sit for Maria, Jack's five year old grand-daughter becoming mine as well. Deb needed to go into Boston to renew her nursing license, and Maria had been sick this week with pneumonia, better now. So she was dropped off at our place.
So, what happens in the afternoon with a five year old girl? Well, we get the toys and books out of the pink backpack. We make peanuut butter and jelly sandwiches and watch cartoons on TV--- girl cartoons--- and watch an animated feature on DVD--- more girl cartoons. We microwave popcorn, and play Sprouts Online, color pictures, and print our names a few dozen times. We snuggle together on the couch, wrapped in our favorite purple blanket. And when Papa comes home and Mommy's with him..... we're just as happy as happy can be!
